The Library is Buzzing this Fall

The Friends of Atherton Library’s purpose is to increase local participation in library activities, including cultural and educational programs, children’s weekly story time, use of the maker space and computer training facilities, and other fun library experiences.
“This year saw an increase in our number of talented board members to 13, with members taking leadership positions as chair of events, finance, membership and newsletters, technology, and communications. Each shares the goal of increasing local participation in and support for our library,” says Christine David. “We do this by generating, promoting, and co-managing new Friends activities, including cultural and educational programs, and increasing community-oriented library experiences for patrons of all ages.”

Welcoming a New Library to Atherton

“Founded in the mid-50s, the Friends was created with two goals in mind; first to create a vital group of resident board members, and second to use this platform to create a much-needed sense of local community.” says Christine David, now President of the FALC.
“Atherton, with its large properties, high walls, and private garden-like settings, can make it difficult for residents to connect as a community,” she says, adding that the new services and the new library facility will help people connect with each other. “This is the ultimate goal of the FACL board. To create a better sense of community through involvement in this beautiful Town that many of us call home.”
